Far From Home (II)

Writing a book is hard.

I decided recently to type everything I have written so far, make it digital, see if I have a little better luck typing than I have been having using pen and paper. I think my biggest problem is the uninspiring notebook in which I am writing. It's a black and white composition notebook. I don't enjoy writing on those pages; I would expect someone who has done some journaling to understand that. There has to be a relationship with the pages you're writing on, if not... there is nothing. The lines are too far apart, the cover is blah, the paper feels rough and un-inviting and it doesn't lend itself to neat and controlled handwriting. So I think that I am going to try and move to a digital format for the time being. Why digital and not just a new notebook? I can type much quicker than than I can write--especially if I am trying to be legible.

Other problems are more sinister and less easily fixed. Dialogue is a bitch. I have rarely ever worked with dialogue and it frustrates me to see the book floundering so early because of dialogue. I mix dialogue with description, mix POV all the time and I can't decide where to go. I think I am just having a slow start. I am going to push through anyway, then go back and edit... a lot.

This is still stupid.
